Not every ad has the same impact; some ads are quicker at capturing attention especially if they feature recognizable celebrities and athletes. Talent-led creative can be a powerful complement to the traditional ad creative, but do they drive better results?
Comcast Advertising recently conducted a consumer survey in partnership with Dynata to better understand how talent-led ads impact TV campaigns. The research explores how brand sponsorships that prominently feature well-known talent can influence viewer interest, shape brand perception, and increase purchase intent.
Winning viewer interest
Talent-led promotions significantly outperformed standard 30-second ads in driving viewer interest. Audiences exposed to talent-led creative showed +74% higher interest than those who viewed the traditional ad creative.1
Aligned with premium sports programming, talent-driven creative cuts through the noise and feels like a natural extension of the viewing experience making sponsorships a powerful way to earn attention, not interrupt it.
Boosting brand perception
Talent-led promotions also shape how audiences feel about a brand as exposure to these promotional ads led to meaningful lifts in brand perception. A third of the viewers say brands that featured a well-known personality in their creatives appear more successful and trustworthy.1
This was driven by an association with high-quality content and credible voices. When brands show up in environments viewers already value with talent they respect, that perception carries over to the brand.
Determining where talent adds impact
Talent plays a meaningful role in elevating sponsorship performance, particularly by adding energy, familiarity, and credibility.
Effectiveness, however, depends on execution. Talent works best when it feels natural. Think of a sports apparel brand featuring a well-known athlete in one of their spots. Making strong connections between brand, personality, and programming can be critical to maximizing impact. When talent is thoughtfully integrated into a campaign and authentically connected to the brand’s messaging or product, it can amplify both relevance and impact, turning sponsorship from a simple association into a more compelling and effective brand experience.
Implementing a complementary strategy
Different ad creatives work together for different audiences and outcomes.
- Among viewers ages 18 to 44, talent-led promotional ads drove 1.4x higher purchase intent1
- Among viewers 45+, traditional ads were 1.4x more effective1
Talent-led promotional ads, with their added energy and entertainment value, resonate more with younger audiences. Meanwhile, standard ads continue to play an important role in delivering clear messaging and reinforcing decisions among older viewers.
- Talent-led promotional ads drive attention, engagement, and perception
- Ads with standard creative deliver recall, clarity, messaging, and conversion
Both approaches to the creative design deliver value for brands, but relying on just one may limit a campaign’s overall impact. Together, they create a complementary strategy that performs across varying brand engagement metrics and audiences.
Tapping into talent sponsorships with Comcast Advertising
Talent-led sponsorships pique viewer interest, strengthen how consumers perceive brands, and drive action among key audiences. But they are most effective when used strategically and alongside traditional creative, with clear alignment and purpose.
In today’s premium video ecosystem, success isn’t about focusing on one type of ad. It’s about utilizing different ad creative together in smart, complementary ways.
As advertisers look to capitalize on these insights, Comcast Advertising is continuing to expand opportunities that bring talent and premium content together in impactful ways.
Upcoming sponsorships include high-profile integrations and other talent-driven activations across must-see sporting events like ESPN’s Monday Night Football, College Football, College Basketball, NCAA March Madness, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and broader influencer-led campaigns. These unique opportunities give brands the ability to align with trusted voices and culturally relevant events, creating more engaging, contextually rich experiences for viewers. By tapping into these talent-powered opportunities, advertisers can strategically extend their reach, deepen audience connection, and drive stronger performance across the full marketing funnel.
